Prominent author and speaker Karen Catlin joined Link Logistics chief executive officer Luke Petherbridge and more than 400 team members for an informative International Women’s Day conversation that covered topics including recognizing privilege, unconscious bias, mentorship and allyship best practices to promote inclusivity in the workplace.
“When it comes to facilitating gender equity, we may not always get it right but we still need to try,” Catlin said in her virtual appearance. “Maya Angelou once said, ‘Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.’ I couldn’t agree more.”
The event was coordinated and sponsored by Ascend, Link Logistics’ employee resource group for women, which facilitates professional development and networking opportunities at the firm. Catlin is a former technology executive who is creating inclusive workplaces one ally at a time through her writing, speaking and weekly newsletter.
“I am incredibly grateful to have participated in such a relevant and important discussion with Karen as she shared how our firm can promote inclusivity,” said Petherbridge. “Following our International Women’s Day event, our team members at Link Logistics intend to put Karen’s insights into action as we continue to learn, grow and improve as allies in both our personal and professional lives.”
