From participating in community events to hosting office parties and more, our people at Link Logistics showed up to celebrate Pride Month through a series of activities hosted by Pride, the firm’s employee resource group for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. As part of the festivities, more than 300 employees joined our virtual “Share Your Story with Pride” panel to discuss inclusion and allyship.
The celebration continued on LinkedIn, where we highlighted several LGBTQIA+ team members as part of our firm’s ongoing #PeoplePowered spotlight series. Read on for their insights, including how allies can take action in their personal and professional lives:
Kaitlin Fitzpatrick, a manager in our Talent Development department, celebrates Pride Month by participating in community events and learning more about LGBTQIA+ history. She encourages allies to seek learning opportunities as they create more inclusive and understanding environments in the workplace and beyond. Kaitlin points to Pride, the firm’s LGBTQIA+ employee resource group, as a valuable way to bring people together to connect and ask questions.
“It’s important to understand, recognize and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community’s achievements and contributions to society,” she said. “As we educate ourselves and support our colleagues and loved ones, we help everyone feel seen and welcome to share their lived experiences.”
For Paul Frankle, vice president, Communications, Pride Month is about embracing authenticity and accepting others as their whole selves. He believes it is important for workplaces to foster welcoming and diverse environments so that team members feel safe and respected year-round. In his free time, Paul invests in the next generation of communicators—he recently joined the board of Chapter 510, an Oakland-based nonprofit that encourages Black, brown and queer youth to share their experiences through writing.
"The most important thing an ally can do is to be a supportive listener to their LGBTQIA+ colleagues, friends, family and community members," Paul said. "Be open to feedback and continue to learn and grow."
Megan McKale, an accountant at our Fort Washington office, counts Pride Month as a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community’s achievements. She considers a favorite principle—treat others as you wish to be treated—to be essential to effective allyship. As a member of Pride, Megan enjoys connecting with a supportive network while gaining access to resources.
“Feeling accepted for who you are at work is a key part of employee happiness,” Megan said. “Link Logistics and my team members have welcomed me with open arms, and I am deeply grateful for that.”
Thank you to Kaitlin, Paul and Megan for sharing your stories. We are grateful for the dedicated advocates across our firm who share our commitment to creating a respectful and welcoming workplace for all.
